    Just for info:

KeyTweak Download: Remap keys on your keyboard quickly and easily, using this lightweight, minimalistic application with a comprehensive user interface

There are a few forum members here who might be able to write an auto hotkey script for you but that's over my head.

I have an HP Notebook about 3 weeks old that if the NumLock is Off the Page Up and Page Down keys on the number pad work fine by themselves.

i do not have the num lock this is not the keyboard with the numbers along the right side. my pc is the hp probook 430 g6 i5-8265u 5vd754t s#cdb52917b 1.8 ghz thanks
If your keyboard layout is like this toggle numlock on or off and see if up/ down works as expected.

Okay so there's some misunderstanding. It's suggested to toggle numlock on then try PgUp/ PdDn. Then toggle numlock off and try PgUp and PgDn. If there's no difference then maybe you'll have to live with it.

EDIT: I read your post again and see that you already tried this.

So are there any AutoHotKey experts here willing to contribute?

i just got this hp probook 430 g6 pc and it does not have the side buttons for the home pg up and dn and end buttons. it has them in the scroll and pg up of dn and i think when you hold the fn button they are suppose to do home and end, but they do not.

is there a setting i can change to get them to behave as home and end when i press the fn key?

also i use the chrome browser and when i have the fn key pressed it seems to like to do a caret when i push the f7 key if i have the fn key locked on and want to change the volume i get that darn caret message. how can i turn that off? some are saying chrome will not allow that. i tried the regedit and going to a setting that is not there on my pc, some maybe there is another work around. thanks
seems stumbed ...so i asked ChatGPT lol

"On many laptops, including the HP ProBook series, the functionality of the keys can be customized or toggled using the "Fn" (Function) key. If the Home, End, Page Up, and Page Down keys are integrated with other keys and are not working as expected, it's possible that you need to use the "Fn" key in combination with them.

Here are a few steps you can try to get the desired behavior:

    Fn Lock:
Some laptops have an "Fn Lock" feature. This feature allows you to use the F1-F12 keys without pressing the "Fn" key. If your laptop has this feature, you can try enabling it. Look for a key labeled "Fn Lock" or similar. Pressing this key should toggle the function keys' behavior.

    Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:
Restart your laptop and access the BIOS/UEFI settings during the boot process. Look for an option related to the function keys or keyboard behavior. This varies by laptop model, so refer to your user manual or HP's support documentation for specific instructions on accessing and navigating the BIOS/UEFI.

    HP Hotkey Support:
HP laptops often come with software utilities that allow you to customize the function keys' behavior. Check if your laptop has an application like "HP Hotkey Support" or a similar utility. You can find and download such software from the HP support website for your specific laptop model.

    Update Drivers:
Ensure that your keyboard drivers are up-to-date. You can check for updates through the Device Manager on your laptop. If there are any updates available for your keyboard or chipset, install them and see if it resolves the issue.

    Keyboard Shortcut Software:
There are third-party applications that allow you to customize keyboard shortcuts. You can explore these options, but be cautious and make sure to download such software from reputable sources.

If none of these solutions work, consider reaching out to HP customer support for assistance. They may provide additional guidance based on the specific model of your laptop."

"As for the issue with Chrome and the Fn key, it seems like Chrome is interpreting the F7 key as a shortcut for the caret (^) symbol. To address this, you can try the following:

    Browser Settings:

Open Chrome and go to the address bar.
    Type chrome://settings/ and press Enter.
Scroll down to the bottom and click on "Advanced" to reveal more settings.
    Look for the "System" section.
Toggle the switch labeled "Use hardware acceleration when available." Turn it off and see if the issue persists.
    Keyboard Shortcut Conflicts:

Go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts in the Chrome address bar.
Look for any keyboard shortcuts assigned to extensions that might conflict with the F7 key.
Remove or modify the conflicting shortcuts.
    Use an Extension:

There are Chrome extensions available that can customize keyboard shortcuts. One such extension is "Shortkeys (Custom Keyboard Shortcuts)." You can install it from the Chrome Web Store and use it to redefine or disable specific keyboard shortcuts.
Keep in mind that Chrome's behavior with function keys may be influenced by its design, and certain keys may be reserved for specific functions. If the issue persists, you may need to adapt your workflow or explore third-party tools/extensions to achieve the desired behavior.

thanks for that information. i have the fn lock incorporated into the left shift key. and when i had that locked for the pg up and dn i found out the f7 key turned into the caret and that thru me for a loop. it seems no one really likes that function. about like the caps lock. also my keyboard has the numbers embedded into the letters and a numlock and that does not work.

i did look into the bios and i did not find any reference to modifying the keyboard, but it may be termed something i did not understand.

i tried 3 aftermarket keyboard remapping apps and they did not work.

i will mess around today and see if i can get the chrome f7 key to turn off that caret function that will help lots so then i can lock the fn key in for kinda sorta pg dn and up, it works in 3 steps that way at least and not just 3 lines at a time.

ok nothing in chrome on my pc that turns of the f7 for caret mode. all it show is the adlock no popups and i don't care for cookies that i added to my extensions.

i will do some checking for the fn lock and pg keys some more

i did driver updates from hp i let them scan my pc and they had less that i found in general for my pc

hp help did no good the bitched because i did not use bullet points it said the way i asked was not to clear so now i use bullet points

I skimmed through everything; sorry I didn't read a bunch of stuff.

Have you tried holding down the FN key and pressing the Page Up or Page Down key, once at a time?

I apologize if this was already mentioned or if you already tried that.
