Double entries , can I delete one?

I have a HP 15-dy2132wm laptop with 32gb ram and a 1 TB NvME SSD hard drive. It is partitioned into 2 main partitions. C is windows and program files etc and I have a D: drive that contains some data files, pictures, etc

When you open up This PC ( I renamed My Computer) there is a list of what I would call "links" such as Videos, Pictures, Documnets, etc. I even created one called Bluetooth Folder for when I download pictures from my phone via bluetooth into his laptop.
I had, sometimes in the past right clicked on Pictures and in "Properties" It shows one tab at the top called "location" I had created a new folder on D: called "Pictures" and then I had moved the location with all the files to the D:\Pictures location. All my pictures and graphics reside in my D: location of "Pictures"
Last night I created a folder "Documents" in the D: partition. Then I went to Documents, right clicked and Properties and in the location I chose MOVE and chose the location to move the folder to D:\Documents
All went well, and in D:\Documents are all my Adobe, Excel, Word, etc documents in their respective folders and sub folders.
NOW I notice that when I go to my C: Windows 10 drive and click on C:\Users\Vernon\Documents that all those documents are still there, and I can open them up as well. If I go back to D:\Documents and look at the files and folders in there, they can all be opened up as well. THEN I created a test folder called #1 A Test (folder) and put a file in there. It opens up fine. When I go back to C:\Users\Vernon\Documents there is NO new folder called #1 A Test in there.

So I now have double the info of files and folders, as they both reside in the C: Windows 10 drive taking up space as well as D:\Documents, taking up space as well. Seems kind of redundant.
Can I just delete the foler in C:\Users\Vernon\Documents to get rid of the redundancy so there is just one incident of the DOCUMENTS folder in this laptop?

Also, is there some sort of registry edit or other where I can move the Bluetooth Folder over to D:\Bluetooth Folder as well? Currently it resides at C:\Users\Vernon\Bluetooth Folder

The reason I am doing this is it would be nice to occasionally back up my files that are not OS related, such as Pictures, Documents, Videos, Bluetooth Folder, etc to an external SSD Hard drive, and if they all resided in D: is would be fairly simple.

Whether the files and folders were moved when you did this may well have depended on what you did at step 7
Move Location of Documents Folder in Windows 10

Note the tutorial recommends creating a disk image before attempting this.

Why? Because this is a potentially dangerous procedure.

People have got themselves into a horrible mess by mkaing a mistake when selecting the destination.

    There is another issue.
Should you have to clean install your O/S, these moved locations will be ignored- and in fact not be directly accessible.

I have, on a number of occasions, advised against using this technique, for the above and other reasons.

I don't know what you exactly did, because I never read long storys.
You must have made a mistake, because the folder in C:\users\<name>\ should be empty!
On the "Location" tab I usually change just the drive letter. Nothing else!
Only the folders with the "Location" tab belong to the %userprofile%
This step is usually the first step when I set up a new PC.
Even on systems with more than one OS this works without any problem.

Yep, that's exactly what I did and saw the message at Step 7 and all went well. Did this years ago when at the winery where I worked.
    all is good.
Just not sure about the files at C:\Users\Vernon\Documents, if I can just delete the whole thing?

I'd suggest pressing [Winkey+R] to open run dialog. Then paste:

    shell:Personal

    Then press Enter.

If it opens D:\Documents then fine. As for deleting C:\Users\Vernon\Documents it's probably better to empty it rather than delete it.

Thank you!! Just did that and it opened D:\Documents, even with the dummy folder "#1 A Test" folder I put in there.
Yea, I can just go into the C:\Users\Vernon\Documents and then just select all of them and click "delete" but leave the folder there for the meantime. Just seemed like a waste of HD space to have gigabytes of info, same info, store in 2 spots on the one HD. I cannot believe how much faster the NvME SSD hard drive is compared to my old HP Laptop that had just a SSD Hard drive. Tiny and blazing fast.

BTW. I run Classic Shell on this computer and so I still have a desktop that looks a lot like XP as well as normal start menu items. Don't have to do the Winkey +R as all I have to do is open the start button and there is the RUN command right there. Microsoft was trying to emulate apple when they put in all that Feldercarb tiles on the desktop. I like the OLD way XP looked with taskbar, Start menu and shortcut icons on the desktop. Also much easir to fiddle around getting the the SETTINGS and the Control Panel, that is laid out like it should be. :)

If you Move the Location of the Documents. As suggested in the link in Post #2 folder to the D: drive, all the contents and shortcuts to Documents will point to the D: drive and it will no longer exist in C:\Users\UserName, you can do this for all of your User files if you like.

Thank you. However, I did MOVE the Documents from C:\Users\Vernon\Documents too D:\Documents exactly as the tutorial said, but the odd part was when I went back into my "Users/Vernon" folder that folder Documents still remained with all the files still intact in it. Just thought it odd.

BTW, I did create a folder in the C:\Users\Vernon\Bluetooth Folder that I have used to move pictures or documents from my LG Phone to it. Is there a way to make it so that the "Bluetooth Folder" resides in the D:\ drive? What if I copy/pasted the entire folder into D:\ and then in D:\ drive create a "short cut" and then cut and paste that shortcut from the D:\Bluetooth Folder "shortcut" to the C:\Users\Vernon folder and eliminated (deleted) the actual Bluetooth Folder that exists there. Would it then just go the location in D drive?
There is no "Location" in a right click menu on that particular folder in the User folder.

You can just Cut the Folder in your C: drive you created and Paste it into your D: drive
When you want to save a file from your Phone, Choose SAVE AS. Then browse to the location of that folder on your D: drive. to save it to.
