setting up new Geekom mini IT11pc

I just purchased a geekom Mini IT11 computer and it arrived today. There is no actual information included to explain what some of the ports are on this new computer, in fact the information is extremely limited on setting it up or using it.
The picture / information that came with it states USB 3.2 Gen2 port and shows that there are 3 of them and then it states 2 USB4 ports - guessing that is the same as usb4+DP (whatever that means), the hdmi port, a mini display port connector (not sure what that is either).
I know that the hdmi port is for the computer monitor, but what is a mini display port and what do I use it for; also what is a USB4+DP port and what gets plugged into those ports?
I realize that companies send very little information on setting up a computer anymore, I have had 3 other desktop computers over the past 16 years, so this isn't the first time I am using a new computer, but for some reason I am just confused.

Could someone explain to me what the hdmi mini port / mini display port connector is and what it is used for as well what a USB4+DP Port is and what it is used for.

    Thank You

Congrats on the new 'puter, and welcome to the mini-me generation

The "mini" ports can be used for the same purposes as their larger parents are, albeit with either an add-on adapter or a cable that has the full sized connector on 1 end and the mini one on the other.....

HDMI & DP are both used for connecting to monitors as usual, and USB4/DP is combination port that can support video, audio, data & power delivery, all over a single cable....

It could also be used to connect to a DAC (Digital to Analog converter) for changing the digital signals from your computer into an analog one that older devices can process, like an old AV receiver, amplifier or tape recorder, and monitors that still have analog inputs (VGA, DB-15 etc)

And USB is USB, regardless of generation & version, and are for data transfers, but the newer ones like 3.2 Gen 2 offers increased bandwidth & transfer speeds for things like external drives, BlueRay disk drives ect, and in most cases, can also provide electrical power for charging phones, tablets, laptops etc IF your motherboard supports that capability...

Thanks for all the information! I believe it might have been Samuria who suggested this pc to me since my Dell xps8700 desktop keeps loosing the internet connection and I wasn't sure if the network card in that tower is going bad or not. (a different post)

So if I understand this, I can use the usb4+dp ports just like the other usb ports on a computer (so if I get an external optical drive, I guess I should plug it into one of those ports since it supports more than regular usb ports - good to know)

I will be connecting my monitor to the hdmi port, the mini display port connect would be used in the same was as the hdmi port but I would need an adapter for the one end of the hdmi cable or a hdmi cable that has the normal connector on one end and a mini hdmi connector on the other end of the cable.

My monitor uses either a dvi-d cable (which is what I am currently using with the monitor) as well as the option to connect to a pc using a vga cable (monitor came with both cables when I purchased it quite a few years ago) so I am picking up an adapter later on today at our local walmart; more expensive than getting it from amazon, but if I ordered it on amazon it was not going to be delivered until the end of next week.

Thanks for clearing that all up for me. I greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks so Very Much.

    Glad to help !

I converted to a mini-me box about a year ago, after I got away from heavy duty engineering work and no longer needed a big, hulkin ATX tower stuffed with internal drives, multiple GPU's, expansion cards and 13 fans to cool it all...

And much to my surprise, my lillyputin box can still handle the occasional small CAD file (at least the initial ones without a gazillion layers, images, charts, graphs, text etc) without much trouble. Probably due the 64GB of 3600 ram & the 850x 4tb drive (+3 externals) I stuffed it with on day 1
