You wouldn't move an application from one drive to another once its installed, you should uninstall then reinstall on your desired drive.

    You say:
I am trying to m(ov?)e an app or a icon from my desktop to drive d
    - but the error message refers to C:\Program files (x86)

    Those two seem inconsistent.

Secondly, as said above, unless the app is completely portable (no installation required = no registry keys, no related folders created etc) - you can't just 'move an app'.

Thirdly, you mention an app or an icon.

    These are very different things.

Finally, it's not at all clear what you're actually trying to move.

changed privledges i am the administrator and i also have take ownership and it not working
The last thing you should be doing is hacking your system and creating problems for yourself that will lead to more questions...

I suggest you should be aiming for a stable system, where you don't start using hammers and screwdrivers in the engine room, regularly backed up with 3rd party periodic disk imaging.

When you have that, and run into an issue, ask a friend or post a thread. It's very hard to deal with issues on a compromised O/S.
