You should always Backup (ie) Copy and Paste, or Drag and Drop, your personal files (ie) Documents, Downloads, Desktop, etc, to an External USB HDD before performing any evasive surgery, just in case it doesn't go your way.
Doing a Windows Reset is the quickest and easiest way to get back to where you were before this started.
Once you have your computer updated and the way you want it, you should do what is endlessly recommended here and all other forums to do a System Image of your computer with a 3rd party app, like Macrium Reflect or your favorite Imaging/Cloning app, and save the image to your external USB HDD.
When disaster strikes, you can easily restore your saved image and be back in business in a matter or minutes, not hours or days.
