Windows 10 Version 22H2 running on a desktop PC won't copy empty folders.
I use the folder names of empty folders for comments. Example: "xxx Folder Above Used by Adobe"
If I try to copy the folder for backup using File Explorer, it won't copy it. Not to another folder on the PC nor to a USB drive. There are too many of them to try to put a file in each of them.
So I cannot back up my data folders.

Please post a screenshot showing the folder structure.
Also state clearly how you're attempting to copy the folder.
There is a way of adding comments to folders if you wish - I have posted that on tenforums.
There are many ways to back up data- and far better ones than manually copying files and folders for routine backups.So I cannot back up my data folders.

I created an empty folder on my Desktop. It is named "New Empty File"
I created a folder on my My Passport USB External Hard Drive called "Test Folder" and moved 2 files into it.
If I try to copy the New Empty Folder into Test Folder, nothing happens. It does not copy it.
I just want to copy my Desktop and Documents folders onto a USB Drive, but they both contain many empty files.

This works for me to a USB drive.
In my case I rt clicked on the empty folder (New Folder) on my desktop and dragged it to a file explorer window open at a folder on the USB drive containing a couple of files.

Again exactly how are you trying to copy or move the folder?If I try to copy the New Empty Folder into Test Folder, nothing happens. It does not copy it.
To copy the empty folder, I can left click and drag it to the folder on the USB drive.
Or I can right click and drag it, then choose Copy.
In both cases nothing happens.

Can you copy the folder to another location on your internal drive?
And can you copy a non-empty folder to your external drive?
Have you tried using a different external drive?
