    I did not have Live Update or IOBIT until I installed Live Update which automatically installed IOBIT and three other tag-along programs ... but did not resolve the error notification pop ups. So, I deleted all of them. Now, I have none of them and their left over anything. But I still have the pop up on Start or Restart which I just unpop. And I think the PC is performing normally. When I finally get really fed up with deleting the pop up, I will probably end up resetting. Which is better? Cloud or Local?

    @coolnewyorker

    Is there some reason why you won't use Autoruns?

    Uninstall installed items and delete items not installed ... they are just there. Like shortcut icons on screen. Sometimes menu options list both(delete and uninstall), sometimes, only one of them, in which case it is either delete or uninstall, whichever is listed..

    I have not studied it yet. I am careful with free downloads ... too many hidden tag-along programs. Is it proven safe?

    Which browser did you use? Try this download link instead,

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sy...loads/autoruns

    Click the link in blue text: Download Autoruns and Autorunsc

    You should be downloading a zip file.

    I'd be looking for the source of that dubious warning. Autorun is a commonly and widely used diagnostic tool.
    autoruns.exe at DuckDuckGo

    EDIT : Quite possible this is a false positive from an over-zealous origin trying too hard to protect your computer. Autorun is designed to get into parts of the OS installation that some unsophisticated antimalware programs just block, for the sake of it.

    Ok, I did autorun and did not see anything I recognize or understand except for iobit that is listed as not found. Nothing about liveupdate. Interestingly, there are many entries on one drive which I thought is not working.

    Did you use "Everything" tab and the search box to filter? Type liveupdate into the search box. If nothing shows up then I don't have other ideas.

    Under search entry: No liveupdate. Under services: also no liveupdate. Autoruns seem to validate the absence of liveupdate in my system. Could it be malwares? (I found two Trojans, which I have removed). I ran offline malware scan, MRT full scan twice, to no avail.
    Last question: which reset is better? Cloud or local?

    Start Autoruns, right-click the "IObit" entry, select "Copy", paste its contents into Notepad and see if it contains a reference to "Liveupdate.exe".
