Long time running windows 10 so what happened to Win 11.

I remember Win XP was no longer going to be supported, think Win7 came then quickly win8, and then hear came Win 10, it's been a long running Windows OS, so just what has happened to Windows 11 with so many missteps so many problems and so many computers having problems running it.

Did Microsoft give up on beta testing programs, or did they just leave it to be the people getting their new systems to do the beta testing.

Well what ever the real answer is i am glad we still have our forums and the people willing to help find the answers to the many Win 11 problems, and it's good to know Windows 10 is still being supported Microsoft was smart enough to keep supporting win 10.

    1. They will unless they change their mind which I think is unlikely only support 10 until October 2025 as here
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/li...0-home-and-pro

    2. as mentioned on that link Long Term Servicing Channel is slightly different
Existing LTSC releases will continue to receive updates beyond that date based on their specific lifecycles.
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/li...rise-ltsc-2021

    3. Further here although now an old post but still relevant to explain LTSC
    https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/...e/ba-p/2147232

    4. Microsoft did of course test 11, but there is no doubt it had problems when it was released in October 2021
They also released it slightly earlier June 2021 to the Windows Insider channel

    5. I have used it on there since available and now use it on a retail release,
I have had not one single problem for the last 12 months or so.

    6. From what I see many of the problems are caused by people trying to tweak 11 with third party apps to make it appear like 10 and in some cases even aspects of 7.
I also think that many problems are caused by some third party anti-virus apps, which in many cases seem unable to keep pace with updates, albeit Microsoft release update details, to third parties where an AV may be effected before the general release date of the update.

    7. I realise that the main theme of your post is not actually asking for the above details, but I thought you may find them useful.

I have been following this forum and the ElevenForums now. I haven't seen any more problems with Windows 11 as Windows 10. A lot of the problems with Windows 10 and 11 are from people running them on older hardware. That's what happens when people insist on running Windows on computers that aren't fully supported.

I have 4 machines with Win11, Notebook with Pro, Desktop with Pro, that I purchased after Win11 RTM'd and a Notebook and Desktop with Home I was given for parts but rehabbed instead. All 4 properly meet the Win11 System Requirements. For testing I upgraded a 10-year-old Notebook that was Win8 Pr then 8.1 then 10 and now 11 which does not meet the System Requirements for CPU and TPM. All I needed do was Mount the latest ISO from Microsoft, replace one file in it following a 'tweak' on the Internet for the Upgrade process, then install, has been working good for a few weeks now.

I got my first in '92 with MS-DOS 5 and Windows 3.1. Retired late '94 and offered part-time job in computer store, month late her tech. left and I was building computers next 4 months. Got a job year later setting up 6 new Win95 computers in a hospital, still working as a tech just not as much.

    Those were the days
after the commodore and the spectrum of the 80`s I also got my first windows desktop in 92
I cannot now remember the spec in detail but I do recall it had ram if my memory serves me correctly measured in KB
and a hard drive I think of about 10MB - I seem to think that was the days of the 5.25 drive
    and everything on floppy

My first one was a black "business" Hewitt Rand 80386/40MHz with 4MB RAM and 120MB HDD plus both 3.5" and 5.25" floppy drives. First upgrade was to 8MB RAM when WordPerfect 5.1 for Windows was running out memory at 8 pages of text, next upgrade to 210MB HDD.
