Why does Power Plan still include IE settings?

Microsoft probably has six arms, and each of the hands has no idea what the other five hands are doing.

MS needs to support EDGE and maybe give you the option to support other browsers, e.g. FireFox.

Oh yeah. Win 10 Pro 64 2H22 with MS patches.

Hi, screenshot please? To which settings are you referring in particular?

Oh yeah. Win 10 Pro 64 2H22 with MS patches.

    - note- like so many people you missed the prompt asking you to use winver... e.g. 19045.3570

Perhaps that entry is used by Edge's IE mode.
Perhaps MS has merely not bothered to hide a redundant entry.

I think... Microsoft probably has six arms, and each of the hands has no idea what the other five hands are doing.

Edge uses many of I.E.'s settings. I think perhaps MS have simply given its total removal a low priority.

Insiders tell me that Windows as a whole has become a lower priority for Microsoft.

The cloud is everything. Azure is where the money is ... and it's growing.

Yes. The trouble is they want you to pay for it like a subscription service.
I prefer backup's on another drive so I don't need to access the internet to see them.

Look forward to the day where you have to have a subscription or pay for everything you want to do on your computer.
And then by the end of the month you can wonder why you're broke or your credit cards are charged up to the max.
I had once written extensively about this and what the master plan of Microsoft is and how they slide it gradually in. But this forum's admin didn't like it and not only silently deleted the post but also banned me out of my account. (with a pretty lame "system" explanation)

Be careful criticizing Microsoft here! This is seems to be a red flag on this forum and your criticizing messages will get silently deleted by the admin or even your account banned!

    Six only?
    Are you serious?
More like 60 or even 600 or even more!

The same obscure IE5 reference you can find if you do a Windows repair with tweaking.com's excellent tool.

If you're on the pre-repair scan "repair reparse points" references to "content.ie5" appear.
if you do global file/folder search (e.g. with "Everything") you'll be surprised how much you will find like folders named content.IE5 and history.IE5

All and any activities locally or online, anything you click, scroll, copy, paste etc. will be recorded in Windows and you can find it there!
Now I start to wonder who has access to this...

You better not be bad because a computer forensics* expert will know exactly everything including what toothpaste you use and how many coupons of toilet paper you used to wipe your behind...

*I was given a gift copy of forensics software for Windows 10 used by law enforcement. Fascinating and frightening at the same time. Perusing a little through it, what Windows all records and keeps a record of! Even any and all statistics such as how long, how often, when, from where, to where, clicked/opened before, what clicked opened after etc.

Here's a small excerpt, "the tip of the tip of the tip of the iceberg", from one of my machines:

There’s a lot going on behind the scenes I am sure.

I bet you "Edge" is just a marketing created name, a ploy to make it more appealing than the an all new "Internet Explorer 12" which Edge likely is; an overhauled and upgraded IE11 (Which you can still download from Microsoft!)
Just go look in your control panel and click on "Internet options"...

Like the version naming scheme of the Windows OS e.g, do a search "List of Microsoft Windows versions" and you will see what I mean! ( Vista = 6.0, W7 = 6.1, W8 = 6.2 W8 .1 = 6.3 all minor version updates and then came the marketing department and said you can't call this W10 6.4, people won't buy it. And a new version scheme was born again!
(Unlike Firefox with their gazillionth update "3,356.467.491.03" and guaranteed every time new introduced incompatibilities with add-ons... What a kindergarten!)
