Since Last Monthly Update, Desktop Icons Move

    .

Win-10 Pro 19045.3570: Since this monthly update (October 2023) my desktop icons move around to a different location. I move them back, refresh the desktop, they stay where I move them BUT when I shutdown and then log back on at a later time/date, they are moved, again. I have tried a variety of things (right click to view, unselecting auto or align & reselecting) but these do not help. I tried sfc, then dism online cleanup image scanhealth then restorhealth, then sfc ending with chkdsk, no change. Is this another nag-ware from MS to upgrade to a new computer (win-11)? Driving me crazy! Oh, also tried deleting icon cache, no help.

Anything else I can do to keep my icons where I want/leave them?

Not really a fix but a way to quickly put them back.

ReIcon v2.0 (Restore Desktop Icon Layouts)

BTW, Deselect both "auto arrange" and "align to grid" options in desktop view

Thanks FF, didn't really wish to go outside the OS for another program that Windows seems to have broken. As referenced, I tried unchecking those views in different ways but nothing I did helped. Your suggestion, if I download that program, does it say to uncheck those view options?

Does anyone else have this happening to them? Is there any other options I haven't tried short of an external program? Am exploring all options (and maybe windows will fix it if it is happening to others)?

I only suggested deselecting those two options as a start. Your issue is common and with more then one possible cause\cure. The app i pointed you too is small and requires no installation. You can just stick it on the taskbar.
Are you using any third party software that alters windows gui ?
See if anthing in the article below helps

FF, thanks again for your suggestions. I have not added or removed any programs, only the Oct. windows OS (including .net & win security antivirus) updates installed as delivered during the monthly update. Nothing I have tried works, it seems to me that MS wants to nag the heck out of ppl who have older hardware to upgrade to a new system with win 11 (big surprise, huh?). I have done nothing to any running program either (just the updates to OS), no gaming/other programs, or changes to desktop, or any GUI. I suppose not enough ppl have complained to MS for them to fix this (this happened a few years ago, it took MS a while to fix what they broke). Guess I'll have to just stay on top of these hiccups for whatever reason they appear? Thanks again!
