That code I posted was not about Task mgr.
All task mgr can do is show you the command line so you can see the name of the batch file/PS1/VBS that is running.
When I posted the code about identifying scripts by their window titles [post #59], I said I didn't have any notes about using the same technique for killing scripts.
I then found that I was using precisely that several times every day. I had forgotten that it used the window title method.
So that is what I added in post post #60.
Denis
just reporting back after about a week of usage.
its working great, there are several occasion seeing it working while middle of zoom meeting or gaming, reset within few seconds and continue to work and havent had any BSOD for a total of 30 days system uptime. prior it would last maybe at most 2 weeks if lucky but now seems to work.
also Im starting to wonder if adapter reset is not due to the adapter but the computer, since another PC also have similar adapter.
I agree that it's the computer that is causing the problem not the adapter itself, which is just the victim.
I hope that, now you have a workaround, you will soon be in a position to investigate a solution instead.
- Somebody made some suggestions early on in this thread.
- Since you have the same adapter in another computer, use Device mgr to compare their drivers.
- Make a system image & a driver backup before experimenting. Backup and Restore Device Drivers - TenForumsTutorials
- See what searching for the adapter's HardwareID reveals. my ditty - Search for drivers by HardwareID - TenForums
Best of luck,
Denis
