for reasons of sanity, I've gone back Windows7..
I can't live with an OS that is never the same two days in a row..
(- now I can watch the original "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" in glorious surround-sound Hi-Def Blu-Ray)

    - many thanks to all those who gave advice and encouragement..
    - maybe, I'll return again at a later date, when Big Blue has it all smoothed out..

    - meanwhile, keep up the good work, you guys
    - a splendid effort...!!

Granted I haven't done any googling on this and I haven't read this full thread but why is my copy always trying to reintall itself? This has happened before and this is a copy I downloaded from Dreamspark. Fresh install on Hyper-V that was sitting idle for a few hours. Just now it restarted itself and is now trying to reinstall.

    Quick update:
The install process stopped at 3%, I turned off the VM, rebooted and now back to normal.. Odd??

Why did you download from Dreamspark? The ISO is available from Microsoft's Insider Program. If you're not an "Insider", you can join the program.

Before the ISO was available from Microsoft I followed the crowd and downloaded from a "Windows Follower" site and got bitten, but not badly. I think it was from ESD and must have had something wrong with it. At any rate, I formatted the partition and installed the Official Microsoft ISO. Things aren't 100% right, but I know that the bugs I find are legitimate.

I just happened to be on it and saw it so I downloaded it. That should make no different though as the official ISO did the same thing.

Build 10049 is now available. If you're on the Fast Ring, go check Windows Update! :)

If you happen to have been changed to the Slow Ring, and want to get it now, change it to Fast Ring.

    Mine's working just fine.

Spartan is kinda confusing; I guess I'll get used to it.

Is it just me, or did the 'forward/back' arrows in File Explorer get fatter? :)
