There's a bug with that too! When you open the Start Menu, the Search box re-appears and covers up your taskbar icons!
Thanks, Edwin. I changed it to the icon, which is perfectly acceptable. :) Now I'll see what happens with that.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    You just saved my sanity.

Glad to know that my misery saved someone's sanity... hahaha! :)

not to argue but ,what does it matter that it covers the taskbar when its open ,I assume we would be opening it to search for something,[edit] or open an app in the start menu ,so we will not need the covered icons anyway ,

I don't think that's a bug. That's likely deliberate. Just like the search in the start menu previously. It allows you to open the start menu and start typing (you don't have to click in it).

I am not sure whether that is a bug or intended by design. After all there is only so much room on the bottom of the screen. What they would need to do is to place the start above the taskbar - like in W7.

I guess, but I don't think it's supposed to go like that.

It pisses me off to no end that you can't keep the windows you open evenly spaced on the desktop. When you center it and close it, it's all over the place when you reopen it. C'mon guys

    Why?

My guess is you have disabled or minimized the taskbar search. If you had that in its full size, you would notice that this search occupies the exact same space as the taskbar search, so it overlays it... essentially using the same space. I don't really understand why people have such a hard time understanding how this is supposed to be a good thing.

not 100% sure ,a I rarely open more that one or 2 things at once ,but I put 4 apps on my desktop resized them to fit ,and when I click on the top bar of each app they go full screen ,when I double click the top bar they go back into position ,must say the edges of each app are touchy and it takes a bit to resize them to fit .If this is not what you meant ,I will shut up and go away lol
