I use Total Commander for years now and in DOS times I used Norton Commander, Windows 3 and 3.1/3.11 had much better file handling. Programs like that are soooo much handier for file shuffling and more.

Prompted to activate Windows when already activated automatically when installed
I entered the key from the insider page and everything was fine.

A bug? Probably only related to the preview release

Control panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn on or off features

Prompted to activate Windows when already activated automatically when installed
I entered the key from the insider page and everything was fine.

I'm curious if this "activation" issue might be affecting other areas being tested.

Please note in your post if Win10 was activated automatically when installed or if you have entered the preview key.

    Thanks,

    Bill

I don't think that "activation" does more then to remove watermark from desktop. In the future it might make some difference as to which version is installed as it is a public key.

Anybody find out what the double entry for external hard drives in the navigation pane is for?

I noticed system tray programs, like hotkey stuff, is inconsistent. Some will start from the user's StartUp folder some not. Also I noticed if you double click a tray program it shows in the tray. But if it auto starts it will be set to "only show notifications." Also it seems picky about what will start using the current user Run registry key.

I don't recall taskbar thumbnails glowing with the most prominent color when you hovered over them with the mouse cursor in Windows 8.1; anybody?

Don't know what they are for but not only the externals are displayed. I've noticed if your internal HD/SSD having more than 1 partitions, they will also appear in the pane. See screen shot: disk 2 & 3 having a single partition and they don't appear in the pane, the rest will.

    I can't answer that question (I can't remember either).

The Taskbar button glow is bit feeble on my W10TP VM (I'm using the default theme).

    I'm on 8.1 now.

Only taskbar icons that are active glow and change as you hover over them. Only exception is the start button which always glows when hovered on.

Desktop Favorites (profile Links) object created when you add a location to Favorites (profile Links)

Right click Favorites in the left hand pane of Windows Explorer -> select "Add current location to favorites'. The folder you have open is a shortcut in Links and displays under the Favorites navigation

I subsequently added additional locations to Favorites (profile Links) without issue
    - this was a one time occurance

    Preview Feedback=Yes

I could not do much with the first Favorites object - so I selected create shortcut from the context menu.
Both Desktop objects changed the focus to %USERPROFILE%\Links as expected
Deleting the shortcut I created also deleted the first object
