Running C:\Windows\System32\WUAPP.EXE in 64 bit Windows 10 Build 9926 opens WIndows Update:

If you for some reason have difficulties with it, try C:\Windows\SysWOW64\WUAPP.EXE instead:

You must be having issues ,because it works from Run on my build ,and so does the desktop short cut i created

Just to be sure, I just tested the C:\Windows\System32\WUAPP.EXE in a 32 bit Windows, too, it works as well as in 64 bit. It launches the new Windows Update as I told earlier.

C:\Windows\explorer.exe "C:\Windows\System32\wuapp.exe" is the Immersive link you could use to make a shortcut and pin to Start,

C:\Windows\explorer.exe shell:::{36eef7db-88ad-4e81-ad49-0e313f0c35f8} is the defunct one which doesn't even appear in Control Panel any longer, (in Build 9926).

I recall, the title of this thread was something about "Bugs".
On my first install, I felt like I was sitting on a fire-ant hill. To say I was Bug-Bit is a understatement.

First I was unable to set up Windows 10, sans a password. Then the time zones only displayed the
Pacific Time Zone. Then my sound didn't work, even though it looked like it was working.
It was just one thing after another, till I finally gave up and re-installed Windows 10, 9926 to another hard drive.

Now it boots right to my desktop, time is correct and my sound works! This new install is definitely a KEEPER.
Having the "Classic Shell 4.2.0" and "Grant Admin Full Control" installed, helps too.

PS: It's the end of the day, and I've been right here all day, tweaking and tuning Windows 10, 9926 to make it more like the Windows XP that's been my main OS for well over a decade. I'm just about there. It's looking good!

Geeks, this is not a mystery, no bug here.

Links and shortcuts to former Control Panel module Windows Update do no longer work. If a user has shortcuts pointing to it from previous builds, those shortcuts need to be updated. Links / shortcuts should point to C:\Windows\System32\WUAPP.EXE which works for 100% sure in Windows 10 Build 9926 launching the Settings > Update and Recovery > Windows Update.

Case closed, mystery solved.

I thought John wanted to run Windows Update and was having problems getting there. After reading his post again, I see that he was trying to create a shortcut.

Since it is not a bug - John should create a new thread so other members can help get his shortcut straightened out. That way the Win10 bug thread isn't cluttered with a one off.

How about that John - creating a new thread?
