Command prompt opens at Windows 10 startup

I noticed a command prompt window (or more than one?) flashes open at Windows startup, but then it closes and a conhost.exe process remains in Task Manager.

I hope this is normal and it is not some malicious process opening it.

    Any insights much appreciated.

In this video, i will show you how to use a powerful application like Autoruns to manage your Windows start up programs, processes and other entries.

Hi, are you using OneDrive? Some have linked this to some OneDrive update.

(Previous threads on this issue of a cmd prompt screen flashing up exist- feel free to search tenforums).

Otherwise, to try to identify the startup program responsible, start by
    - creating a System Restore point (so you can get back to where you are now) -make sure you have a suitable backup.
    - then performing a clean boot. (Google or see tutorial if unsure how).

Satisfy yourself whether the same issue exists or not.
    If not:
    - enable the startups that have been disabled in turn or in small groups to try to determine which is associated with this.

If you still see it, you can disable more startups- see Autoruns (free from MS) above.
Note: do NOT disable any MS items - there is an option to screen those out.
Also be very careful to distinguish sections related to programs being launched, and sections related to eg. drivers, context menu items etc.

Are you running any third party registry cleaner? They can also show a cmd windows on startup if auto clean is enabled.

Thanks a lot. Yes, I'm using Onedrive. I'll try these steps.
