Somethings screwy. I even undid what we did previously. In the top right corner of my capture I have 6 icons showing. last two being Vb5 and Multidave.exe. Before we started I had several more icons under that, which is now replaced by the trending searches list which is what came up when we (I) removed the icon from the search box. I got rid of hide (which I just did -- that gets rid of the search box entirely, which I prefer to have showing), and restored the search icon., Things remain. Will reboot -- ugh! -- and see what happens. For those of us who want "a business machine" not a play toy, gaming, or a desktop replicating a cell phone, all this unneeded junk posses issues. My RANT!

    ============== UPDATE ================
Go everything back. Show search highlights is what toggles that list on/off and exposes the other icons. Will have to play a bit, but it looks like with the search icon missing their is a bug as can't seem to toggle off search icon and search highlights at the same time. Will pay more to confirm.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

If you don't have the search highlights option available then one of the options in this should help:
Enable or Disable Search Highlights in Windows 10

Right-click on the Taskbar, hover over Search, untick both Search icon & Search box by selecting Hidden.
Remove (disable) Icon on Search Bar (MS$ if your reading NOTE)-taskbar-context-menu.png
If you want to search despite having hidden these then you can use
    - File explorer
    - Click on the Start menu then just start typing what you want to search for just as if the Search box was visible.

Hide or Show Search Box or Search Icon on Taskbar - TenForumsTutorials

It's really worth making time to browse through the Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every page.
    - At the foot of the Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
    - I download a new copy each month.
    - By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
    - Tutorials are also listed by category at Tutorials - there's also a shortcut to that at the top of every page.
    - Both tutorial lists are searchable.
    - You can also search for TenForumsTutorials in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com/tutorials after your search term. For example,
    taskbar toolbars site:tenforums.com/tutorials

You can search TenForums using the search box in the top-right corner of all TenForums webpages or using Advanced Search - TenForums
    - You can also search TenForums threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com after your search term. For example,
Search for drivers by HardwareID site:tenforums.com
    - [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of TenForums webpages does automatically]

Denis: Thanks again for your efforts and link to the tutorial index..
what i have is search box showing and no icon. If i click to the left of the search box i bring up what i call "quick start icon menu" (which I thought went missing). With the search icon OFF, if one clicks in the search box it brings up on the right trending searches which overlays (hides) part of the "quick start icon menu" . (Obvioulsy something M$ put in which I don't want). I also could do without the last searches appearing above the search as clutter and causes confusion (to me). Hiding seems to eliminate the search box entirely and hover is grayed with check and works. SO I'm good to go but will review tutorials as recommended.

BTW the Tutorial Index page accessed from above works but the page appears broken. ON my system right side of page missing, no way to drag to expand or min/max,. The scrollbar only uncovers a little bit to the right. ALSO only the "A" page appears with no way to get to other letters.

    David,

I'm sorry but I do not understand what you are saying about search in your last post.

The tutorial index has a scrollbar on its right-hand side and it is that that lets you scroll down through the whole index.

Personally, I don't use it online. I use the downloaded Ten Forums Tutorials.xlsx at the foot of the page because I find it a much more useful presentation of the information.

I do not know what, in your browser, causes "my system right side of page missing, no way to drag to expand or min/max".

Denis: This is what I'm seeing when I click the menu
Both the Horizonal and Vertical Scrollbars go to the end so no way to scroll.

    Options:

    a. middle click in the page - the pointer changes to a kind of circle containing a double-headed arrow. Now displace your mouse from that. Vary the distance and the scroll speed changes. Works vertically and horizontally (if there's a horizontal scroll bar present or would be).

    b. navigate using PgUp PgDn Home End keys.

    c. If you have a laptop there are touchpad gestures of course.

There appears to be a scroll bar to the right in your screenshot.

ON my system right side of page missing,
    - agreed.
I can scroll horizontally (as above) to see the rest. It hadn't used to be like that.

ALSO only the "A" page appears with no way to get to other letters.
    Try CTRL F (search)
    then search for
    b

Thank you for your reply. Try3 is not a site admin. Perhaps someone else did.

Anyway you have some other options.
