shortcuts icons in folder

You could test changing the icon cache size to not be as large using an option in the tutorial below to see if that may help them load faster. It's a fine balance of large enough, but not way too large that could cause a delay.

This question has been asked before but there was no completely satisfactory explanation let alone any lasting solution.

You could split the folder up into separate sub-folders for each topic so that only a select few of the icons get re-read at any time. This will reduce delays but not eradicate them.
It's what I do. Mine are arranged in Taskbar Toolbars but are not really much different from yours apart from being more convenient - see Taskbar Toolbars - Creating and naming, customising, moving [post #20] - TenForumsTutorials
