I used to be able to check this at Smartphone Security: Why Mobile Phones Over Two Years Old Could Be A Risk - Which? but it is currently not showing up in both Firefox & Edge.
    That Which table finally loaded.
It says that both our phones are probably nearing the end of support.

I'll consider this situation again next year***. I'll note when the latest OS update is provided & be more diligent about updating its built-in security app.
I might go back to Samsung if they have fixed their 5GHz hotspot problem since they commit to providing OS updates for four years [in their responses to Which enquiries].

*** My last Android OS security update was 20220201. I had not noticed that updates since then had only been for the user interface, "MIUI".
So I'll update my security app monthly & keep an eye on the Which results to see when it is declared as no longer supported.

I don't know what I'll end up buying since all phones seem to fulfil my modest requirements. I'll probably make up a shortlist [makers-models to consider] from that Which table. I would prefer a phone that cost 200 & lasted for 5 years but that won't happen.

I started with Samsung. No more for me.
What about Google Pixel phones? They are available in the UK, aren't they? Google Pixel 7 provides security updates through 2027. Also, it's competitive price wise.
Unfortunately, they aren't available in Thailand.

I wish there were phones running Windows so I only had one OS to learn.
    - I never intended to learn OSs in the first place. It was a complete accident.
I am rather invested in an Android syncing app called MyPhoneExplorer so I would deliberately limit my phone selection shortlist to Android [or based on Android].
    - It took quite a while to get the best out of it and now that I have I want to avoid having to put in that amount of effort into learning an alternative.
    - MPE can do more, much more than any other computer-phone syncing app I have seen descriptions of.

I've never looked into Google Pixel phones.
I saw a comment quite recently about them. Apparently, their OS is Android [or based on Android].
I just did a quick search and I think they are indeed available in the UK.
    - There seem to be several variants of the model.
    - One review refers to it running "Google's own take on an Android 13". So I'd have to check that MPE would run on it.
    - The cheapest variant I could find in a quick search is 450 which is much more than I would want to spend on phone calls, text messages, playing music, syncing with my computer, calendar-contacts-email-notes.

    All the best,

Check again, there are cheap versions. I think they are called "S" models.

Just for info, I use the Which list as my initial long list for further consideration.
    Phone support period estimates.xlsx
As you'll see from the applied filters, I do not intend to consider anything from Apple or anything that their investigations have not estimated a decent support period for [2026+].
I'll update my spreadsheet when I decide to replace my current phone so that I'm working off current data.

    All the best,
      My Computer
