Why I can't install the CAB file by using DISM command?

    Hi, everyone,

I need your help to correct the error of DISM command code while installing CAB file.

I have checked the packagepath is correct many times, but DISM always say I can't find the file as the picture as attached.

Please you help me to find out and correct the error of DISM command code. Thanks a lot.

    Hello @shiwan0804,

I usually use " around the /PackagePath:"<FULL PATH HERE>", even if there are NO spaces.

    I hope this helps.

Not all .cab files are packages that can be installed by DISM, this one isn't.

The .cab format is just another archive format like .zip. You need to open your Intel_Software_Component_2130.1.16.40.cab with File Explorer and extract all the files to a folder of your choice. If there is an earlier version installed you can use Device Manager to install the driver. Update the driver for Software components > Intel Management and Security Application Local Management. If it hasn't been installed before you should be able to right-click on LMS.inf in the folder and select Install.

    Thanks, Paul Black.

Unfortunately, Dism still say it can't find the file specified.

Dism could not be according to my need.

The cab file was suggested by Windows Update.

But, I had installed latest Intel Management Engine Interface driver, I didn't understand why Windows Update still recommended the old version driver.

It could be the better way to install the driver was using Windows Update.

The way Windows Update works for 3rd party drivers is that they are submitted to Microsoft by Intel, AMD, OEMs etc. and will only be offered through Windows Update once MS has tested and approved them. This inevitably leads to to the WU offerings not being the latest driver available direct, but at least it should be a known stable one.
