Snipping tool froze everything after recent windows update

    Hi

I am running Windows 10 Home Ver 22H2
After the most recent update windows said they are moving away from snipping tool and reccommend to use Snip&Sketch

But that Snip&Sketch tool is so slow!!! It will take many seconds to start and when I try to snip a picture on my screen it will take many seconds again, and you get the idea , until saving the picture, very frustrating.

So I went back to Snipping tool, its weird now but at least works fast with no issue until saving it takes some seconds but at least was much faster than Snip &Sketch...also that Snip&Sketch seem to slow down all my other programs, so I stopped using that garbage app.

But today when using Snipping Tool, my whole pc froze...and was in perpertually snipping mode..I could keep snipping and my screens would stay "white" in snipping mode. Couldn't go into save mode . I had to CTRL-ALT-DEL to to go Task Manager and that took a long time. So I finally restarted my pc.

Is someone here having the same issue? and found a solution ?

    thanks,
    KCC

Hi, I don't know what your latest update is (can differ from user to user) - the forum prompted you clearly for your full build number (so we don't have to keep asking).

You might mean a Net framework update, a preview update ...etc...

    Mine is 19045.3086

Snip and Snip & Sketch are fine on this PC.

If you're referring to KB5027215, this was reported widely as causing various issues for some.
    KB5027215 Windows 10 Cumulative Update 19044.3086 and 19045.3086

You can of course try uninstalling whichever update you think may be responsible and see if anything changes.

Personally I choose to block preview updates.

Thanks, please consider my suggestion to try uninstalling that update to see if it's related.

Thanks, I saw its a security fix. And I decided not to go ahead. I remember now I left the snip tool "open and running" and my windows went to sleep mode. After that it seems the the snip tool doesn't like it . So I will need to close it after use or before windows goes into sleep mode. Decided to use it over the next few days and no more issue .
