2 Folders W/ Same Name in Same Directory

How is it possible that I have 2 folders with the same name in the same directory? And 1 doesn't seem to be recognized by software I am using.

    Thanks.

    Hello @jimlau,

    - What is the Directory name ?
    - What is the Folder name ?
    - Have you Refreshed the Directory ?
    - What software are you referring to ?

The more information that you can give us the better the chance we have of helping you.

Its possible you've made a shortcut to the main folder but it should respond

It's a long directory path, which ends with "workspace". Then the folder in question in workspace is "model". The software is DeepFaceLab. It does not recognize that the model folder is there, so it creates a new, blank 1.

So, I finally just decided to copy all the content of the original model folder and pasted them into the second, blank model folder. Then it works. Model and its contents are seen by the software.

No, neither is a shortcut, neither is hidden. This has happened multiple times.

What is refreshing the directory. You mean click elsewhere and then click on "workspace" file again to show its contents, which includes model? Did that if so.

    Thanks.

"Refresh" means right-click in a blank area & select Refresh.

There was a similar report in the forum about five years ago. You could try searching for that thread in the hope that it has useful guidance.

Personally, I'd like to see a screenshot of these folders in File explorer so I could understand exactly what you have described.
    Make your screenshot then
    - Start typing a new post and look at the Editing toolbar

    - Click on its Picture icon [near the middle of the Editing toolbar]

    - In the Insert image dialog that appears, click on the From computer tab if it's not already selected

    - Click on Browse then browse to the file, select the file, click on Open,

    - You'll be returned to the Insert image dialog, click on Upload file(s) [but only do one file at a time]
    - The diagram should appear in your post.

One way this can occur is when the folder names appear to be the same but really are different due to the use of Unicode characters. In the screenshot below it looks like I have two "Captures" folders, but one of them has a trailing Unicode blank.

How is that detected and fixed?

I had another odd occurrence where a folder that was referenced was said to be in another, differently-named folder.

    Thanks.

    Command line:
2 Folders W/ Same Name in Same Directory-1.png

For the rename, I did not type the folder name with the Unicode character. I selected it and pressed Enter to Copy and then right-click to Paste.

So a second directory named as another, the above commands will put a ' after it on 1, so u can choose which to rename? I guess this works better than just trying to rename it in Explorer itself?
