Repairing broken Windows install due to hardware change

So I have a situation where I can't get my hands on a remote PC but I'm trying to help someone recover their existing Windows installation. Long story short, the motherboard was replaced due to an issue but the Windows install now just BSOD's on boot with "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" as the stop code. This is a Dell machine, so Dell startup tools are available.

Does anyone have any success stories of fixing this particular scenario? Is it even possible? Or do I have to let the user know that they need to reinstall Windows because there's just no way?

I think you're going to have to go into your motherboard's settings and change Legacy/MBR boot to UEFI,

or if it is already set at UEFI, you're going to have to change it to LegacyMBR

    ( PC with Windows 10 won't boot after CPU/motherboard change - Super User. )
