documents Dark Red Number 3 locked

Windows (Home) ver. 22H2 Build 19045_2965 Custom build PC Asus MB

When i open a document in a non Microsoft word processor (WP) program, the font is set to Dark Red number 3. therefore when I print of course, the printout is in color (Dark Red Number 3- which looks like black) forcing me to use up my color cartridge. If i select all and set the text to Automatic (Black) and print, my text will come out using my black cartridge. But as soon as i close the document and re open it, it is back to Dark red number 3. I use open-source WP programs (open office, Focus Writer) because Microsoft programs are so expensive. I have tried 3 different WP programs and all text is Dark Red 3. is this Microsoft's "or else penalty"? Use our WP software or else we will make you waste your money using up your color ink. I CANT be the only one who has noticed this. I have looked all over the net looking for an answer for literally years... There isn't one. In my opinion this angle is underhanded

Is there a fix for this, or is the only remedy to buy a Microsoft WP Program that I cant afford? I have tried editing the font color but cant find a fix.
