Is Windows IOT Enterprise Compatible with all Windows 10 software?

Is Windows IOT Enterprise Compatible with all Windows 10 software?

I believe that it is not, because I see that Windows IOT 10 does not support WinForms, however when you throw enterprise into the picture people don't believe you when you say it is not.

It is hard to tell the difference between Windows 10 and Windows 10 IOT.

I am asking software vendors we use to weigh in on their products, since their compatibility matrixes don't appear to have IOT on them yet.

I see that Windows 10/11 Drivers may not work on Windows 10/11 IOT.

Can someone weigh in on this and help me understand a bit more.

    Thank you

I've been using Win 10 enterprise for a few years now and am planning to move on to IOT.

Put simply they use the same kernel and what runes on pro should also work on ent. The one problem you might face will be things like Microsoft store apps, or programs that rely on DLL's used used by the store. There is a way to get the store working on ent, if you really want to that is.

Why use enterprise over pro? Simply put, has a more powerful registry and group policy editor allowing you to have more control over the system. For example updates only go in when you click on check for updates

The reason to use Enterprise over Pro is the following:
Core requires UWP Applications, will not run Winforms, WCF, MFC, some Win32 App and anything that requires a hWnd.

Industrial PCs are all being shipped with IoT for the most part now. IoT Core Supports Universal Windows Programs, as mentioned, IoT Enterprise Supports much more. Windows IoT Core is not the Same as Windows IoT Enterprise.

This means that not all similar Windows Products are equal, even though they have a similar nom de guerre.

According to all documentation Windows IoT Enterprise supports Winforms, WCF, MFC, some Win32 App and anything that requires a hWnd.

IMHO, put the Enterprise versus Pro aside. And decide it you want IoT or Standard Windows 10. Then sort out if you want IoT or Enterprise IoT.

I think *you* need to sort out the difference between *IOT Core* and *IOT Enterprise*:
