Please, not another question about Windows Search which results in recommendations for a load of 3rd party tools.

Folks, we've been there, done that... so often.. it's really, really tedious and so predictable
... as are the defensive responses equally predicable

and does nothing to address the actual question - which I have.

Those who deride Windows Search mostly don't seeem to understand it. And that is its weakness. It's not simple consumer tool.
... But it should be. Why is it so complex that the average user finds it difficult to use ? Why does it need special attention to make it appropriately functional ? (I loathe, and therefore avoid, the trite and patronising terminology "user friendly"). 3rd party options seem to mange this, somehow. Maybe because these options exist, Microsoft can't be bothered with it's own product.

Okay. I am a bit confused. I click on the yellow folder on the task bar. This brings up a window of files on the right paine and folders and directories on the left. This isn't file explorer. It dosn't say that on the title bar at the top. Am I using this the wrong way?

    Using what the wrong way?
Your description sounds just like File explorer. What did you think you were doing?

    Perhaps a screenshot would help.
