If Denis is correct about task scheduler ignoring shortcut parameters, a method like his may be your best bet.

That's why I had to develop the method I gave you a link for.

    thx Denis -

I scanned thru your method and it looks quite involved and, as in the op, was hoping for a 'for dummies' approach. However, I did manage to achieve the core resolution of this issue and am now satisfied with this achievement. However, with all great endeavors there always, for me, seems to produce just that one teeny-weeny item for total satisfaction. I'm not sure I need do all you did, what with the creating and setting up all those folders, etc. and perhaps possible to scale it all down to a few steps?

The method I worked out contains only those steps that are essential and I took great care to write it out so that dummies could use the method as long as they were prepared to read it & follow it through.
You've done almost all of them anyway. You've only got to do the vbs file and set up TS to run that.

If you want to stick your script files somewhere without Admin protection then they will still work.

thx Denis - I rarely expect and receive 'for dummies' solutions here but always request just the same because at times they do exist and I am just not all that OS/code knowledgeable. I can certainly put up with the cmd flash (<1 second) for now and will give your method a shot. - again, thx
