win ten photos questions

ok it seems to hold the setting until i take new photos and then it reverts back to small icons and inverted photos so i this to be in the phone. i tried a different cable and a different port and it held good until i too more photos and then all the settings went back to small icons and reverse sort order. i can deal with it but i sure would like to have it show large icons and last photo first on the list. thanks for the help this has to be a phone thing. so maybe samsung forums can help better.

Taking more photos appears to be the important difference. And this is not a Samsung specific issue. I see exactly the same behavior with the Pixel 3a (Android 12) and Moto x4 (Android 9), but I don't see the issue with the Samsung j3 (Android 8).

Weird stuff. I have to work on other things now, but least we're seeing the same thing. Later, I'll try to learn more to see if there is any remedy.

FYI, I got the Moto x4 to connect to the PC after I cleaned the lint out of the USB port.

i use the magnetic port adapters but i also tried the plugin cables and it did the same thing. it would be nice to get windows to see this and hold onto the changes. thanks

i tried that winset app and now i have the headers way to large how do i get that back to a normal size?

i put the winset view back on to see if it would go back to default and it did not the top of the window is huge in type maybe this image will show that

I saw that in your previous screenshot and wondered what was going on. I've never seen the heading text change in size before. I assumed you had installed some patch to do that intentionally. Very strange. There's certainly no option in my app to do that. Do you have anything installed that might change system fonts (e.g. Advanced System Font Changer)?

no when i was playing with your app i got it so far out of whack that i had to do a restore on the system to a few days before i put the app on that pc. i played with that app so much trying to get the icon and sort order the correct way that it got out of control so i did a restore. that is the only pc that does that now. so i guess tomorrow i will back up the files and try just reinstall the OS and be done with it. i went back into that app and tried a bunch of things and it did not correct it. so something is reset in the back pages. that happens thanks

Before doing a full OS reinstall, please test with another local user account and see if the strange large heading text is still there. If a new account is fine, then I would try Account Profile Fixer (which is basically an account migrator). If a new account exhibits the same issue, I would try a Repair Install of Windows 10, so you don't have to reinstall all your apps.

In regards to the phone view not being remembered, the only new information I have is that for an iPhone, the view is reset to default every time it's connected, regardless of whether photos were added or removed.

With the Android 8 phone I tested, connected using the "PTP" or "MTP" option, the view is always remembered, even if I add or remove photos. With the Android 9 and 12 phones I tested, I can select "File Transfer" or "PTP". In either case, the view is remembered only until I add or remove one or more photos. I checked the registry to see if there was any clue to the behavior, but came up empty.

I'm sorry to say there just doesn't appear to be any known solution. I think all we can do is open a report on the Windows Feedback Hub and hope Microsoft will make it work better some day.

thanks but i do not have another account setup on that pc. and maybe they will or maybe android will. i have a nokia and the is a bit worse and you have to copy all the photos that you open into file explorer and then past them into another folder and then they will show correctly. the problem with tha tis you do not know how many to copy so then you get the warning to over right or skip. and by the time i go thru all of that i might as well just do the sort and large icons. thanks for trying maybe someone has figure this out and maybe there is some app to fix it.
