so how can you tell if you get a pc that already has win 11 on it if it it really ready for win 11? i see lots of pcs now that have win 11 on them, so how can you tell if it is the real win11 or one of those copies that you can put on a machine that tells you it is not ready for win11 and may not get all the securities needed like win10 has now?
Download and install the PC Health Check app. It includes a compatibility check.
So far, non-compliant machines do get all updates.
No, they are not 'one of those copies that you can put on a machine that tells you it is not ready for win11'. The only checks Win11 makes for a supported device are made when attempting an install or upgrade. There are known workarounds to bypass these checks and install the 'real thing' on almost anything, no matter how inappropriate.
If you can get your hands on the PC to check it, then running WhyNotWin11 will tell you whether it is a supported device, and if not then why not.

If you can't test it yourself, then you need to look carefully at the detailed specs of the PC.
The main requirements for Windows 11 are that the PC has a UEFI bios (and hence capable of Secure Boot), the CPU is an Intel 8th generation processor or later (or the equivalent from AMD) and that it has TPM 2.0. Supported Intel or AMD processors are generally capable of providing a firmware implementation of TPM 2.0 that satisfies Windows 11 requirements, that's AMD's fTPM or Intel's PTT (Platform Trust Technology).

i have that app but will that work if the pc has win11 on it already and the pc is really not ready for win11? this pc has win10 but i see lots of ebay pcs that have win11 on them so will that app tell me if those pcs are still ready for win11?
No. I was under the impression that you already have a computer with Windows 11 installed and wanted to check if it is fully compliant. PC Health Check will do that.
You will need to ask the seller to run PC Health Check and confirm that it's compliant (seeing a screenshot would be best). If they claim it's compliant and it turns out not to be, Ebay will ensure you get refunded.
I'm not aware of any tool where you can enter make and model to determine Windows 11 readiness. Such a tool wouldn't help with custom built PCs.

The minimum requirements will not go away, MS are not going to drop them. If/when Win12 comes out it will almost certainly have the same minimum requirements, maybe even add a few of its own.
While MS strongly recommend you do not install W11 on unsupported devices, they do not block the known workarounds. They have even provided a few of them themselves.
