Do you mean did I add it myself?

AFAIK it's been there forever as a default menu item.

Right click the image file and choose "properties"

What does it show for the file extension? (letters after the dot in file name)

Thanks. Okay installed XNView Shell extension and it did not add "run as administrator" to right click context menu for image files.

Yes, indeed! At first I thought of asking why that option is available for non-executables. But the day before yesterday I got this WU update (KB5025221) which I thought could be the culprit. Sometimes such updates bring issues like that. So I focused on how to "clean the mess" in a more superficial way.
I completely understand what you mean by how new features, or ideas, get added to Windows 10 after some update. I totally see your viewpoint, and an update could possibly make a person think that the update is the one that changed things up.

Yet on my computer, that didn't happen.

What I'm assuming, I believe was also mentioned a few posts ago, is that you probably had some 3rd party app add that context menu to the right-click context menu for every single file.

Let me see if I can find something online that could fix this...

I just noticed that the context menu "Open file location" option is missing.

I believe some system stuff might be corrupt. I'll try SFC and DISM.

Sounds good. Let's hope that fixes it.

My install is fully updated and I only see "Run as Admin" on executable files. Not PNG or others. It couldn't have been an update IMO
