Sort by name: AA is not at the start

I have noticed that strings starting with "AA" or "aa" are not at the start, but comes after Z. It treats AA as a single letter ┼ which goes after Z. Can I change this behaviour?

    Welcome to tenforums.

Could you clarify for respondents, please: sort - in what context? Using which program?

A screenshot would help, together with how you specified the sort. Thanks.

After I click anywhere inside the orange box, like in the picture below, the files in that folder get sorted the other way around. Is this what you're talking about?

Also, regarding AA turning into ┼:
    https://www.bing.com/search?q=AA+becomes+%C3%85
"In an attempt to modernize the orthography, linguists tried to introduce the ┼ to Danish and Norwegian writing in the 19th century. Most people felt no need for the new letter, as the letter group Aa had already been pronounced like ┼ for centuries in Denmark and Norway."

It seems like this might be a language thing.
Make your keyboard language to English (United States) if it isn't already, and see if the AA doesn't change.

Surely that is normal behaviour as you are clicking the Column Title, which will change the Sort order from Ascending to Descending, or am I missing something ?

The suggestion to change Windows locale is correct. Scandinavian languages automatically treat AA as ┼ (which sorts after Z).

If you look online, there's many examples where the ISO standard requires programmers to follow this rule. Switching to any English (US or GB) locale would force an English-based sort order (AA is not collated as ┼).

Oh wow. Okay. I tried a few things to check if I can replicate the ordering in File Explorer, but that didn't work.

Paul: My post was to check to see if the thread starter pressed that by accident, and it re-organized the list. That is no longer applicable after I read Marie's post. Because on her Swedish English settings, it shows the same thing as the thread starter.

Kalkas: I tried changing my whole language settings to match Marie's Swedish English
Sort by name: AA is not at the start-4.png
and the Regional format too, but that didn't affect my File Explorer's way of ...prioritizing certain letters to be listed first.

I'll try to look around on the internet if there's a way to do it...

I have a swedish install with a swedish keyboard.. no english anywhere in it so to speak.

So.. the question is.. what happen if you have an english install and set/change to swedish keyboard/system language.. is that messing up the order?
Edit2 It is way to late now.. But tomorrow if i have the energy and time, i can download an english ISO install a VM as english/english then change system language to swedish to see if that will do the mess-up trick.

    Edit
I tried to mess it up with changing national layout to Swedish/Finnish, but I did not manage to get AA next to ┼
So i can not replicate that phenomenon om my swedish install.

I see. So I am assuming that the "English" versions of other countries'... English languages is probably the method to be able to get it sorted in the correct way that the thread starter wants.
That's just my assumption, from all that I've read above, and what I tried on my end.
