Can you boot Windows into safe mode?
Have you uninstalled the update from recovery environment?
In this video, you will learn how to scan and repair Windows operating system files by using the System File Checker (SFC.exe) tool, if Windows cannot start.

In this video, i will guide you on how to repair Master Boot Record (MBR) in Windows 10 or Windows 11.

No, I can't boot into Safe Mode either.

I don't understand this question. > Have you uninstalled the update from recovery environment?

OK. But I'm baffled as to why system image restores don't fix it.

I have no idea without error message its hard to find the cause of the boot problem.

    one question
Have you ever made sure that your backup image you made did work.... It can be a bad image if you never tested it.

    Fixed.

I re-seated my graphics card, and it booted up.
I started to think back about a similar issue I had years ago with this computer. I had to re-seat it back then.

The reason it would have failed when rebooting to complete Windows Updates would have been simply because of the reboot. Most of the time the computer sleeps and rarely reboots.

But there was only the healthy single beep code, so I didn't really think about it to begin with.

It's not my main computer. It's an old GIGABYTE GA-X79-UD5 motherboard. I built it in 2012 and it usually runs well.

Thanks everyone for all your help.
I learnt some additional stuff in the process.

Good point. But I don't normally test my backups.

I have three different backup applications that run on schedules on a few computers.
I think that'd be a lot of work to continually do. I think it'd be unlikely that image backups from all three applications failed.

This is something good to keep in mind. Also, in addition, this could also happen when only one RAM stick isn't properly connected either.
One day, without me doing anything to my Desktop tower, the computer just never wanted to start up either. I tried so many things, then hours later, got to the idea of trying to remove, and place back one RAM stick at a time. After reseating one of the four RAM sticks I have (don't remember which one, wasn't the first one I tried though), the computer started up normally! I was so relieved!
