You talking about the MBR Master boot record?
Sorry you might have missed my previous reply that the boot from cd and did repair pc failed and as a result no changes where made. Then I went into the Advanced options where I did try to reset pc, but keep data files and programs where that failed also. Just as a note I download HDDScan for checking disk drive, but the C: image was not supported {win10 I guess}. I can see all my data on C: so its not totally crashed.
Ever have Windows 7 disc or was preinstalled when bought? When did you upgrade to Windows 10,date ?
This was a ASUS gaming laptop G73jw, I7 1.73 cpu, 8 gb mem, 2 500 gb disks ,5 years ago and was preinstalled windows 7 Home. I think it was about 8/10/15 I upgraded to the free version of windows 10, which I should have known better, but that's it.
Well have till Sept. 10 make a choice on OS. Going over first post at boot up always goes black, but then you do get access eventually or never ? Reset and refresh errors sometimes the cause corrupt registry too. Master boot record does cause boot issues if corrupt, not sure try the bootfix tool yet. Originally stated error you received do you get this on every attempt to boot up, Bad_System_Config_Info ?
Same issue, no answer https://www.tenforums.com/installation-setup/10100-windows-10-blue-screen-bad_system_config_info.html
Again same issues https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3flfpf/bad_system_config_info_bsod_windows_10_and_i_dont/
If it possibly can be due to hardware, like the hard drive, tried one tool was incompatible, but wonder if even checkdisk or software called HDTune would work since most Windows tools are failing on you right now, sfc, Dism, refresh, reset and repair
Yes I do get same error on all boots {Bad_System_Config_Info} I haven't used the bootfix yet, need to know cmd string to use.
I am wondering if any updates to win10 happened on 8/27 as while rebooting trying items I got 100% done on updates, but no reboot. Now I was on a WIFI network when this all happened. Possibly updates actually got corrupted or I lost WIFI in the middle.
You asked if I had any win 7 install disks...I do on my tower system, but it is a complete Ultimate disk not OEM. Not sure if that would help anything before I blow away and start over on laptop?
Viruses and malware can cause these issues. Take a look at some of these since mention bootfix.
