locking a file

    Bill,

    You already know your TargetFile does not contain any spaces of ampersands in its path or filename.
    But all except one line could cope with that condition so you might want to complete the set just in case you copy any of this script in the future.
    Your line
    Code:
    attrib +r %TargetFile%
    cannot cope with spaces or ampersands but would be able to if you changed it to
    Code:
    attrib +r "%TargetFile%"

    You are being very terse with the people who see the Q U I C K E N I S O P E N O N A N O T H E R C O M P U T E R message, the very people who are liable to be disappointed and assume it's all your fault.
    Do consider giving them as much of an explanation as you do for the NOTE: QUICKEN CANNOT BE OPENED ON MORE THAN ONE COMPUTER AT A TIME people.
