How to rename thousands of folder names with emojis within them?

We have some Mac users and Widnows users accessing common folder and file repository. Ten thousands of files and folders.
Mac users put emojis on folder/file names. On windows, I can view emojis on folder/file names. I can add emojis to via windows explorer. But, I can't do it for hundreds of new files.
How to rename thousands of folder names with emojis within them, using command line or some kind of windows tool?

How do you want to remane them? Are you wanting to:

• Add emojis?
• Remove them?
• Simply work around them?
• Do you need to search/select based on the emojis?

Windows is a complex OS that constantly accesses and runs files from all sorts of folders etc. Adding emojis to folder names could confuse these operations. It could also have a detrimental affect if you write and run Scripts because of setting the actual folder names within the code.

Emoji's are nothing scary -- just pre-assigned UTF8/UTF16 byte sequences which supported apps will replace with icons. Otherwise legacy apps will handle them the same way as they do with UTF16 encoding.

This is no different than if your scripts can't support Asian filenames.

CMD in old Terminal, and PowerShell 5 are not emoji-aware.
CMD in new Terminal, and PowerShell 7 are (`u escape for emoji characters).

Advanced Renamer can work with emoji characters, if you browse their support forums there's a thread on how to remove emoji sequences while preserving Chinese characters in filenames. It's just tedious work looking up emoji byte sequences if your app doesn't have a built-in emoji picker.

You can even add an emoji to your WiFi SSID (network name). Older software that sees the network name will show the UTF characters though...
