    Screenshots no longer popping up

Hi. I used to take screenshots and get a popup message that the shot was taken. But that's not happening anymore. What changed and how do I change it back (and how do I stop Windows from changing the way it works all the time)?

Some details: First off, I keep my start menus and other stuff hidden since it takes up too much room. Then, I press the PrtSc button on my keyboard and a small menu comes down from top. I click on one of the choices, usually "Windows Snip", then click on the window I want to picture, then Windows 10 delivers a popup which I can click on, which then opens the picture in an app called Snip & Sketch.

What's happening is that the popup (the part I bolded) doesn't come up anymore. I can still find the picture by hovering over the Start Menu, clicking on the last icon which looks like a cartoon textbox, then finding the message and clicking on it. This is annoying and time consuming since I take a lot of pictures while playing a board game online with friends. Why did it change and, more important, how do I get it back?

If the answer is not already in the tutorial then you could post your question in that thread.

    Welcome to TenForums.

It's really worth making time to browse through the Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every page.
    - At the foot of the Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
    - I download a new copy each month.
    - By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
    - Tutorials are also listed by category at Tutorials - there's also a shortcut to that at the top of every page.
    - Both tutorial lists are searchable.
    - You can also search for TenForumsTutorials in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com/tutorials after your search term. For example,
    taskbar toolbars site:tenforums.com/tutorials

You can search TenForums using the search box in the top-right corner of all TenForums webpages or using Advanced Search - TenForums
    - You can also search TenForums threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com after your search term. For example,
Search for drivers by HardwareID site:tenforums.com
    - [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of TenForums webpages does automatically]

I think this is the popup to which you were referring
    Screenshots no longer popping up-untitled.png

generated after you used Snip and Sketch.

Check this is on - if it's off, you won't get that popup.

    FWIW I've not seen this:
Then, I press the PrtSc button on my keyboard and a small menu comes down from top.
    - I guess you have a setting different to mine (maybe the option in Snip & Sketch, or in Settings) as for me PrtSc takes a whole-screen screenshot.
    - not that that's relevant to the problem.

I'm not sure if this directly addresses the issue I had, but it resolved itself before I could even get to that post. Thanks.

Yeah, that was on. The problem magically resolved itself before I could even read any replies here.

It sounds like your operation of the PrtSc button is the way my Windows 11 works, which I hate. I just want to frequently snip a portion or window of the screen, and have them pop up on screen (not litter my hard drive). I intend to address this problem in Win 11 one day, too. But I am an expert in procrastinating.

Hi. Thanks. That's is what I'm doing. But snipping tool started acting different and I couldn't figure out why. Anyway, it resolved itself when I rebooted. I am going to try to find a way to delete this thread so maybe people don't spend time reading it.
