how to change "read only" of WMP folder on Program Files (x86)

    Hi there.
Today, I wanted to do that trick Revert Skin (WMP) Transparency Fix (make it stay opaque) - Normsweb.com , that changes the tresparency of revert skin and
    makes the skin stay opaque,,
that, the program folder is stored on C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player
but the main folder doesnt allow me the permision to change "read only", that is needed to do the trick
and I cant put the "netgen.wms" onto the "Revert.wmz" file.
Found many solutions, but none worked.
There is a way from CMD to take permision to change the file to non "read only" ? Thanks.
(I provide an scrnshot to make you understand which files is it).

Hi, FWIW I can copy a file into the skins folder- there's a UAC prompt asking me for admin permission. Do you perhaps have UAC off?

The only file I have in that folder is Revert.wmz so I'm unsure to which file's permission you're referring.

put the "netgen.wms" onto the "Revert.wmz" file.
as written doesn't seem to make any sense.

If you can't otherwise copy a file into that folder, boot to a command prompt and do it from there.

The Read-Only indicator shown by File explorer for folders is meaningless.
Whatever your problem is, it is not that.

You should normally need Admin approval to change anything in C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player because of the Permissions set for that folder.
You could change those Permissions or, since this is a one-off job, you could reboot from the Windows installation USB [or similar] then do whatever you are doing since Windows permissions do not apply when booted this way.

I experimented and modified that file easily using Q-DIR x64 portable. Run as admin. Enable system privilege (Under Extras)

Navigate to the folder. Open with 7zFM.xe (7-zip file manager)

Find the file. Right click - choose edit. Make the changes. Save.

    That's it.

yes UAC is off, but the message instead shows up. After that, windows doesnt let me to change the main folder (in my instance, the
C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player , that is already marked as "read only". Also, I use winrar not 7zip. That guide I followed, if you can read it more closely, says that I have to open the "revert.wmz file, copy on the file "netgen.wms" inside, modify some
lines on notepad, save and close, and after, the modified file, "netgen.wms" put it on back the "revert.wmz" file.
Also, When I try to modyfie the main revert skin file, doesnt allow me at all to change the lines of code. So, the problem is
the same, that I dont have privilengies to modify Program FIles folder.

Don't do that. It will likely break something. Use a program that can bypass rights rather than muck about with permissions on system files and folders.

Well Q-Dir gives you admin rights temporarily and you can make changes by opening those folders/ files in your archive program. I used 7-zip.

I downloaded Q-Dir right now. Okay, as you said, I enabled the system privileges, under "extras" options. Now, I open WinRAR, and I can modify the file as .txt, and save ? Or 7-zip has something more ?

With WinRAR I cant edit the "netgen.wms" as txt file. With 7-zip that I have, I can. Anyway I'll try it to change the skin
code as my 1st comment, in the tutorial that I posted. Thanks for any advise, it was helpful. Now I know what to do, if I want to
go through privilenge limits on file explorer.

As I suggested, if you're simply trying to copy a file into that folder, and for whatever reason you can't, then boot to a command prompt and do it there.

Or boot your PC from a live boot disk, then copy the file.

Or use this useful free 3rd party tool (which lets you set things up so it does the move or copy on restarting your PC).
    Download EMCO MoveOnBoot - MajorGeeks

And you will experience some odd difficulties if you turn UAC off.
