Error code 0xc0000102, Locked Out

I turned on laptop tonight with a blue screen and the subject error for file: \Windows\System 32\drivers\iaStorAC.sys

I searched the forum for this error, but my situation is not listed.

Pics below of screens. Nothing in F8 is accessible, cannot get into Safe Mode, F1 does not work, & ESC brings up BIOS.

Totally locked out and can only get to BIOS (?), but do not know what to select.

Note: I only have basic computer knowledge, please help!

Yes, all info I find to correct this error, you have to have access to Windows.

STARTUP SETTINGS—every option when tried by number or F-keys, comes back to the STARTUP SETTINGS screen. Nothing will open.

I don’t know if I have any Restore points (no way to see).

I can only access the screen with Dell Inspiron 5767 on it—the BIOS?

Anything I can do there?

There is a Restore Settings option (BIOS Defaults, Factory Settings, Custom User Settings).

I do NOT want SSD erased because I have files on there.

Going to see if my son can put old HDD back in and setup 10 from scratch to see if it runs.

Suggestions on the BIOS Options appreciated, what to try.

0xc0000102 = file corrupt error


Find one or two flash drive that you can format (> or = 8 GB).

On a working computer create tools that can be used on the problematic computer.

Create a bootable Sea Tools flash drive and a bootable Windows 10 Media Creation Tool (MCT) (Windows 10 iso).

If you have only one flash drive it can be repurposed after running the Sea Tools bootable long generic test.


1) Test the disk drive using Sea Tools bootable

Run the long generic test > take pictures > post images or share links into this thread


2) If the Sea Tools bootable displays pass then run chkdsk /b /v on the windows drive

When booting using the Windows 10 media creation tool > to identify the Windows drive letter > open command prompt and type:

bcdedit | find "osdevice"

(record the partition letter)

Then run chkdsk /b /v W:

(replace the letter W: with the applicable drive letter)

There are many threads where computer users had difficulty creating working bootable Windows MCT on a MAC.

If you can find a friend, neighbor, relative, local computer store, or local public library with a Windows computer it often is a more reliable bootable MCT.

Thanks...I pulled the ancient Netbook out of the closet--Atom processor takes close to a minute to load pages, downloads even longer, but working on it now.

Sea Tools bootable finally finished downloading. Working on Win MCT next...Atom is s-l-o-w.

I wanted to report back...while d/l these items to USB, my son pulled the SSD from my laptop, and good news, all of my personal files are there!! In process now of transferring them all to external Passport. It's taking a long time.

Question: Will either Sea Tools or MCT erase any files on my original SSD?

The first.. as it says.. is about BIOS settings. Nothing to do with Windows.

System Restore- restores all system files, drivers which have changed since that restore point, and a copy of the registry.
It monitors a certain range of file types.
So e.g. it can reverse program installation, Windows update (but not upgrade...).

Again, one should be System Restore- so you could try that.

But before that, check your disk - it could have failed. zbook has now posted an approach below.


As you make no comment about a disk image, I will assume you've not yet discovered how creating one can help rescue yourself from bad situations- unbootable, failed system disk, even a stolen PC, ransomware...

It also acts as a full backup of all partitions imaged- you can copy files from a mounted image file.

@dalchina would I be able to find a disk image on my SSD since it is out of my laptop now (copying files off it)?
