Win 10 laptop Not keeping time

    Hi,

    I have Win 10 Home 22H2 19045.2604 120.2212.4190.0 on a HP Laptop Pavilion DV6.

    All updates are correct.

It will not keep time, no matter what options I have taken so far, including a different time server.

When I sync it, it gets the correct time, but when I power down etc it stops. I guess stops syncing.

    Any ideas please?

How old is the laptop? Could the CMOS battery be dead? That battery is necessary for the internal clock to keep time when the computer is turned off.

    Hello @ozstar,

Definitely change the CMOS Battery to exclude that from being the culprit. If that does NOT remedy your problem, then you can carry out further diagnostics.

    I hope this helps.

Well here we are a few days later and it is still not keeping time.
I have messed with the sync, auto on/off a few times but nothing seems to work.
In Services I changed the Time to Auto under Startup, but that didn't help either.
Not sure where to go now.

Yes, it's a new cmos and the dv6 battery shows 100% and is plugged in, but I have a spare battery which I will try to see if that makes any dif.
    It's a mystery fo sho' .

After trying so many things and on the link 'spunk' gave, I finally went into BIOS and changed the date there and it looks like it is now keeping time. If not I'll be back, as General Macarther said so many years ago. (I'm showing my age )

I decided to check the heat of the box too while I was at it. Does it look okay?

    Thanks for the help guys.
