Reading back through the thread, I see that you hit the 5000 view limit, but if you had run WinSetView, it would have cleared the Bags registry key, bringing that count down to a handful of views. So, did you actually run it (i.e. clicked Submit)?
Lightbulb! I just realized the meaning of your message... When you looked at the WinSetView interface, you were obviously confusing folder TYPES with actual folders.
So, it seems you didn't actually run it. If you do want to try it, I recommend following the quick start guide and keep in mind it's setting views for folder TYPES and your actual folder views will follow. That is, a General items type folder will get the General items view, a Pictures type folder will get the Pictures view and so on.
The 3 folders mentioned in my original post have nothing but icons in them, shortcuts to software or web addresses, they are named Utilities, DVDs etc., and Financials. Couldn't figure out a folder type for those folders, Pictures didn't work.
After running WinSetView I checked the count on saved views, it was 7. Then I "saved" the 3 folders view as large icons rechecked the count and it show 8??

Maybe the DVDs folder could be set as type "Videos" and pick up the view for that type. The other ones would be "General items", so you would have to set those views individually. That would be a tiny amount of extra work after running WinSetView, assuming we're talking about the top level only.
If you want to propagate a view down through a hierarchy (and, as in this case, can't do it via setting a folder type) then you'd need a tool to do that. I'm currently discussing just that with another member on elevenforum and have done a proof of concept that I'm working on turning into a tool.
Thanks Les, but my needs are very few, the fact that the software clears the Bags is really all I need at this time, cool piece of software.
