Can I get more "Top Apps" when I hit Search?

    I am running Windows 10 -- Version 10.0.19045 -- Build 19045
When I hit Search, I get a pop-up window like this:

I would like to expand the number of "Top Apps".
Is it possible to do this?

By the way, I turned off the "trending searches" that were in that big white space.

I've never seen anything that suggests you can, I'm afraid- most people wish to eliminate that.

Interestingly the 'Most used' section of the Start Menu also shows up to 6..

I wonder if they are the same ones (never checked, and I have these disabled).

(Just for comparison, Open Shell start menu - free, used by many members - shows 10 most frequently used programs).

    Bob,

Please would you explain why you want to get more than 6 'Top apps'. What's the point? What are you actually trying to achieve / avoid?
There might be another way of achieving your goal.

    All the best,

When I hit the search button I typically want to start an app.
It would be convenient for me if the app was listed so I can just click on it.
(rather than having to type it in the search box)

    Like that perhaps?

Or you can create a taskbar toolbar - a folder full of shortcuts- and there are 3rd party tools that let you see categorised shortcuts... free..

Consider pinning those apps to the Start menu.

In my 6 examples, you can see that I've also right-clicked on many to alter their size as a means of emphasising those I use most often.

The main alternative approach is to use 'Taskbar Toolbars'. My diagram above shows how my two [Menus, Favourites] are displayed on the Taskbar.

A Taskbar Toolbar can contain as much or as little as you want. From this

Those sub-folders flyout when you hover on them, XP-style. And disappear the rest of the time so they don't clutter up the place.
A note for the future - Taskbar Toolbars are not supported natively by Windows 11 but can be enabled fairly simply using a variety of methods including a third-party utility called ExplorerPatcher.
