NKFN file, a way to open NKFN files (2023) | DataTypes.net

Do a quick skim-through all that...
I'll look at other sources too.

Check out the section under "Kernel for NTFS Data Recovery Snapshot Data related extensions"

Did you install any of those new applications?

Do you have any of those applications you just installed? Or some application that has some sort of similar name?

Oh also, sorry I misspoke in my last post. The directory with that exe does look a little suspicious.
(What I was referring to that doesn't look like a virus) is the Kernel Document with that extension. It looks like a valid application. But the folder location in the Registry, with the .exe, looks a little sus.

Go to that location on your H Drive.

Open H: drive, look for a folder that starts with the word Kernel. Does it exist? Open that folder. In that folder, is a file that starts with the word kernel? If you can find that exe file, upload it to:
    VirusTotal

    Screenshot the results

Well, you didn't use Shellmenunew- which would have told you a lot about it.

So I'm out, Unsubscirbed. Thank you for your time.

I just found this and i dont remember downloading it but I have in the past. And its the same date as the registry entry, its related to file recovery. So its because of this. But i dont have it installed, so maybe i had it installed before. Im going to try installing again then uninstalling and hoping it removes remnants. If you installed:

New entry in "NEW" context menu called kernel-uninstall-programs.jpg

    Then uninstall it.

    It added on my machine:

New entry in "NEW" context menu called kernel-new.jpg

However your registry looks different so maybe it's not the same program.

    Here I see:
