How Do I Completely Disable Windows 10 Telemetry?

Hello, I am unwilling to use Windows 10 because of the Telemetry issue. I have researched Telemetry and my understanding is you cannot completely turn off Telemetry, only set it on Basic. Has anyone ever been able to completely shut off Telemetry and verify this with utilities such as WireShark, Sysinternals TCPView, Nirsoft LiveTcpUdpWatch or Nirsoft CurrPorts? I know there are various tricks to try to shut off Telemetry such as using the Registry, Group Policy Editor, Task Scheduler to disable the "Customer Experience Improvement Program" (CEIP) and to remove the execute setting for file CompatTelrunner.exe. Are there any other Telemetry EXE files where I can disable the execute setting? There are experienced users who report even Windows 10 Enterprise returns data to Microsoft.

Mozilla Firefox still supports Windows 7. However, Guitar Pro 8 and other guitar programs do not. Also, Anaconda Python stopped supporting Windows 7 almost immediately in Jan 2020 which is sad. Mathematica 13 stopped supporting Windows 7 although Wolfram has priced themselves out of the market and this is not as needed as Python.

If anyone is able to make Windows 10 completely disable Telemetry and verify this with one of the above four utilities please LMK how to do it. Do the above Sysinternals and Nirsoft utilities catch ALL connections Windows makes? I am not willing to download an ISO from a third party source because they are insecure.

Even Windows 10 is getting old and will only be supported for 2 more years unless Microsoft changes this. I will not be using Windows 11 because their TPM 2.0 disables anonymity and allows other software to identify you using the onboard motherboard key. For this reason I will be using Linux in the future. It's just a matter of when, not if. I am hoping I can run any required Windows software I need using Wine.

There is NO way to completely stop the telemetry.
It's kind of a moot point anyway... because everywhere you go online tracks you, watches you, records where you go and what you do. Even Linux has to suffer with the new... internet.

There's only two choices you really have....

1. Deal with it... and compute and surf accordingly.
2. Stay offline.


Operating systems use telemetry, as do vid card drivers, as do browsers. Just about everything calls home.
I think the only program I've seen in years that doesn't even try to call home is Foobar2000. :/


On a side note... as far as paranoia goes... I'm the king.







Probably the best you can do these days... is get a decent 3rd party firewall.
One that blocks "everything" except what you expressly allow.


If you have highly important, valuable, critical computing to do... do it offline on a comp that has never been or will never be... online..
For the rest... try to leave as few tracks as possible, use a decent firewall, and try not to be too juicy a target.

What are you actually fearing might happen as a result of using Windows?

Do you think MS wants to empty your bank accounts? View your pictures?

If you fear 'telemetry' then use Linux.

This topic has been discussed so often on tenforums- why not search tenforums for those discussions and see how others have tried to stop data leaving their PC.

How do space craft work? Telemetry. How does MS monitor performance of Windows so as to assess problems and usage of features? Telemetry.

Yes there are 3rd party programs (have you done your research?) that have been around for some years to stop some of this.

But if you're worried, then, as I've said before, please don't
- use any form of cloud service
- use email
- browse the internet
- log into any sites
- sync anything between devices

etc.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... there was a decent firewall.
It was called Zonealarm.
It absolutely blocked absolutely everything from accessing the internet, without the user's specific permission.

But these days... even Zonealarm is... junk.



You can't "beat" the new operating systems, or the internet.
The best you can do is compute and surf... in a smart manner.
There's no more 100% solutions.

As George Orwell said long ago in the book, 1984: "Big brother is watching".
You can't stop it. All you can do is be so inconsequential that no one cares, what they see you doing.


You can use GRC's "Shields Up" to look at "All Service Ports".
It shows u=you which ports are open, closed or stealthed.

Obviously, stealthed is what you want.

Stop telemetry

Anyway a lot of it can be turned off by the choices made when doing an offline install of Windows 10.

The rest of it is a little more tricky but remap routing table works. You still need to monitor connections for a while and weed out anything that connects to MS telemetry servers.

Also note: You can use TOR network in Windows (not TOR browser) and it's not slow but some sites might not work correctly.

Well it does launch your default browser but you can close the browser and use another one. It will still use TOR network. I only use it for region locked stuff.
