Need to push power button on PC twice to shutdown

I recently upgraded my headless server from Win 7 x86 to Win 10 x64. I notice with Win 10 that I have to push the power button on my server twice to cause it to shutdown unlike the single push I was used to with Win 7. Is this expected, or is there a setting to change it to a single push? Thanks.

Do you have "Turn on fast startup" checked..?

If so, try to turn it OFF.

    Hello @Apesbrain,

Have a look at this > Change Default Action of Power Button in Windows 10

Also, have a look at the Related Tutorials at the BOTTOM of the above Tutorial as they may also help you.

    I hope this helps.

I suggest you check your power settings.
If your non-existent display has been turned off in power settings then the first power button press will wake that non-existent display up and the second press will then take whatever action you have set for it [Shutdown in your case].
You can set your power settings to Never turn off that non-existent display and then the power button ought to operate as you expect.
I don't recall this being different in Windows 7 but it's now several years since I've used that OS. But, perhaps, you set up your power settings in Windows 7 so long ago that it is merely escaping your mind that you had to do that for the same reason as now.

    All the best,
    Denis

That setting is not available on my PC even with "show additional options" enabled.

Makes sense! I've set my monitor to never turn off and will see if that remedies my issue.

    - it won't be if you've disabled hibernate (via powercfg).

    Otherwise, for reference:
