How to Put a Wordpad Document into a Desktop Folder

I made an empty desktop folder. (took me a while just to figure that out.) labeled it "miscellaneous". I bring up Wordpad, put some stuff in there I want to remember, things to do, etc. But I cant figure out how to save it inside that desktop folder.

It always ends up sending me to some microsoft stuff, says I need an account, and I have to buy msoft "word" program, and takes a bunch of clicks before I can escape all the msoft ads.

isnt there a simple way to send the wordpad stuff into the desktop 'misc' folder to save it so it doesnt disappear when I turn the computer off?

Save it in your documents folder. For any folder you have to tell the program what folder by choosing. Also Microsoft does not serve up ad's on their programs.

wont work, try to stick it in documents, then try to bring it up later, it goes to "Word", something about buying "Office" programs, etc

not trying to save a "Word" document. trying to save something I write on a page in wordPAD. isnt "word" a program that ya have to buy? I might have gotten mixed up between microsoft/office/word, but I just write somehing on a page in wordPad....thought I could simply save it in a desktop folder.

Strange....no problem here with wordpad and save the testfile to a desktop-folder.

Rightclick the desktop-folder and choose properities, and under security be sure that you got all permissions checked ON...Full control.

Sounds like "open with" file association is wrong so when you "Save As" what is the extension you're using?

Or else right click the problem file that you saved and choose "Open With" then select WordPad.

Also if you just click the save button you should see:

So choose RTF and if the "Save in this format by default" box is empty then put a checkmark in it. Then save.
