How to see if very old legacy apps will work in Win11?

I doubt I could walk into a Best Buys and find out if my ancient PS 5.5 or Cool Edit 2000 will work on Win11. I could try and video them throwing me out of the store.
Short of buying a new Win11 PC I'd have to ask friends if I could install my old apps on their Win11 PCs and see if they work. But I don't know of any such animals, they all have Win10.
I'm surprised those old apps still work on Win10. I'd like to keep my current PC running Win10 offline if that's possible just to keep old apps running. The recent Photoshops and Audition are expensive to rent and you can't personally own them. I'll eventually have to get Win11 but I doubt I'll be able to get another power machine that I have now. I'll prolly get some laptop. So nothing stronger than Paint will run on it.

Well, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Running a Program in Compatibility Mode in Windows 11/10
The compatibility mode feature is identical in both Windows 10 and 11. The only thing that differs in Windows 11 is the new look of the right-click menu. Other than that, these instructions will allow you to apply compatibility mode on the program of your choice in both versions of Windows.

Run Older Programs in Compatibility Mode in Windows 11/10

    Very good explained...

If it runs on Win 10, it'll most probably run on Win 11.

Here are a few that run on both...
Paint Shop Pro 4.12 and 7.04 and 8.1 and 9.01

There is no reason to expect any problems in Windows 11 with applications that run in Windows 10.
I run MSOffice 2007 successfully in Windows 11.
You could always try searching for your applications' names in ElevenForum and asking about them in a question in that forum.

There is no reason to expect poor performance just because a computer is a laptop.

    You're right, I just couldn't help it.

Thank you everyone for all the input. I feel more confident now about Win11 running those old apps. It really is quite a lot like Win10.
