First boot of the day usually fails

Every night, I power down my PC and the modem-router and every morning I power up the modem-router. After the connection is established, I power on the PC. Mostly the process just hangs after flashing a list of my hard drives and I have to power down and press the start button again which always works.

    Any ideas?

Try NOT powering down your modem-router, when you power down your computer.
Just leave the modem-router running all night. Then, see if the computer still "hangs" in the morning.

It looks like the computer may be "waiting" for something "else" from the modem-router, like a handshake or something.

Or... in the morning, try turning on the modem-router AND the computer at the same time.

Those are the only things I can think of, besides don't power anything down at night.
    Use sleep or hibernate instead.

Hi, really the router shouldn't matter.. and powering down and disconnecting from power can save you from power outages/surges etc.

    a. Try checking ALL your drives - get Hard Disk Sentinel, run that- instant result for all drives, highly informative.
Review each (tabs down the left of the GUI. Full functional trial, SSDs too, portable version available.

    b. Disable Fast Startup.

    c. If all are ok, consider checking/replacing your 'CMOS' battery
    How old is your PC/mobo?

    d. Possible marginal PSU?

Please post a screenshot of your partitions- are all your O/S partitions on the one disk?

    Are you overclocking?

You could try just switching on your PSU for a while without pressing start on the PC, this may allow a borderline PSU to 'warm-up' then press start after a period.

How long have you had this problem?
What happened or changed before it started?

Was Fast Startup previously enabled- or have you just now disabled it?

Some desktop PSUs do become marginal and cause problems- hard to check usefully without a replacement...

The CMOS battery as mentioned above is another possibility.

By way of an experiment- disconnect all other drives and try booting just with your system disk in place.
