Win10 forced update killed my laptop

I returned to my laptop that had been left on after an hour surprised to see a battery warning .

My laptop lives on a desk and plugged in though maybe once a month i unplug just to cycle the battery .

Restarting my MSI laptop got me a new night scene screen "like what you see?" and a password prompt .

I disabled the scenes feature and the login password prompt long ago .

I can only assume windows has decided to force 11 on people as they did 10 .

Never mind that my intel i7 is incompatible , Far worse than that is they removed all drivers so i cannot recharge the battery or power on my laptop .

Even removing the c-mos makes no difference , the laptop is dead unless anyone can suggest a fix ?

    Hello @HELEN07,

I do NOT know if this will help your situation, but it might be worth a look. It is what I use to stay on my preferred version.

    > How to Specify Target Feature Update Version in Windows 10

    I hope this helps.

Why can't you power the laptop with the power adapter? What happens when you turn it on?
Microsoft does not Force the upgrade to Windows 11, you can always decline the upgrade.
It may just be the Update to the latest Windows 10 version 22H2. If you can log in, go to Search and type Winver which will tell you the version of Windows you have.
Drivers have nothing to do with recharging your battery, Even if the battery is dead, you can still power the laptop using the Power Adapter.
If you can login, press the Windows key +X and choose Device Manager. Any devices that have yellow marks need to have drivers that can be downloaded from the Laptop manufacturers download site.
You say that you were able to restart the laptop and get to the Lock Screen and then the Login screen. What happens after that?

I can only assume windows has decided to force 11 on people as they did 10 .
At present, this seems just that- an assumption.

Given your description, it's impossible to guess what exactly has happened.

How old is your laptop? MSI Leopard - seem to be maybe 2021?

You say your laptop is 'dead' yet you say
Restarting my MSI laptop got me a new night scene screen "like what you see?" and a password prompt .
Do you know your account password?
** even though you chose to use passwordless login that does NOT mean the password is irrelevant- far from it

Do you use a local or MS account?

Do you use 3rd party disk imaging regularly and routinely to protect yourself from disaster and give yourself a robust means of recovery - as is ENDLESSLY recommended here?

If i wait long enough with it plugged in to charge it might light up the keyboard and reach the windows icon displayed on screen before it shuts down .

Battery is built in by the way though it has been removed along with the cmos and the power button held down for a full minute to drain any residue power .

Laptop is getting old MSI Leopard GP72 7RD .

About 12 months ago it had new fans , a new keyboard , new power ribbon all because of a spill . Only problem i have had since has been in the last few days with a lazy , vanishing , freezing touchpad/cursor .

I can't reinstall windows using F3 or F9whatever if i can't get the laptop to stay on ?

Instruction Video for some related problems.

So....remove the battery, you have to loose one screw. Push the power button and keep it there ONE MINUTE for flushing the power from the condensers.
Put in battery again and try to power up your PC.

It seem to be a common problem for those PCs, but a local PC repair shop should handle this.
I would have tried twice with power draining, and also keep sure that the battery get charged 100%.
Sounds stupid perhaps, but also remove the disk and the RAM sticks for some minutes......
