    accessing web addresses from clipboard

Hi, helpers. when I am given the option to "save to clipboard" (usually a web link address) and I do so, How the heck do I 'get' that address? I can access the clipboard, but it wont allow me to 'select' the data and copy it and the dropdown seems to be offer only deleting and 'pinning' Thanks for your help Chrysanthem7

Press Windows key + V to view all
To paste first entry from the list press CTRL + V

To paste other entries click them
Window or form into which you paste needs to be in focus.

hello, I'll try to explain it better..

    1) To tell clipboard which item to paste you simply click on an item from the list that appears when you press Win key + V
    2) Prior to pressing Win key + V, you first need to click into an area (such as address bar in browser, or notepad) that is able to receive clipboard contents.

If clipboard item is text you therefore need to click (with mouse cursor) into some text box and then press Win + V followed by clicking on text item in clipboard.
Otherwise if clipboard item is an image you would need to open paint.exe or similar program which can receive the image.

The following animation shows how to paste text and an image from clipboard into notepad and paint.exe respectively,

I use the old fashioned CTRL+C (for copy), and CTRL+V (for paste)

If I copy multiple things onto the clipboard app, I'm gonna forget what I put on there, and get lost in thought later on. I keep it nice and simple.

    1) Click on the web address above in your internet browser to highlight the whole website link
    2) Press CTRL+C on your keyboard
    3) Go to whichever other location that you want to paste the address (as text), and press CTRL+V

And zebal showed a really good tutorial on how to use the clipboard app if you want to do it that way instead.

Hi zebal & pepanee, thank you both for your guidance. Im not fluent with your advised methods but Im trying to become so. Isnt this 'the way' with digital devices ? What I believe Ive observed is that each time I 'select' a text passage it seems to be stored on the clipboard. And pepanee, yes, it is important therefore to 'do housekeeping' there--particularly since Ive found that, say, a 'Spotify' 'send' request loads the address to clipboard with only the 'cryptic' encoding, that is, with no other reference to the nature of the link. Lastly, I also think that clicking in clipboard is selecting. Thanks for your help and any other comments you may have for me )) Chrysanthem7

Spotify and other apps or sites will share an URL shortcut.

Instead of a URL with many characters and punctuation, they give an unique code with a handful of "random" characters. Those "random" characters are a specially coded shortcut that each provider knows how to translate. They're short, but the drawback is they provide no clue to what you're sharing or bookmarking.

Hey, garlin, yes, indeed, cryptic; I'll leave it at that and only save one tune-track at a time. But in all Im happy to be learning how to use Clipboard--getting past my misunderstanding and frustration ! Thanks and Happy New Year ! Chrysanthem7
