I installed W10 yesterday, played with it, found it "better" than W8 but don't see it replacing Windows 7 in both the residential and corporate world.
If someone's XP, Vista or 7 computer craps out on them and they need a new computer right away (in 2015), then walking into a retail store and buying a keyboard/mouse PC with Windows 10 on it will suffice. The people I advise will still be pointed to Windows 7 64bit (any version).![]()
People tend to just use the OS that comes with the PC they purchase. Some will do and update but the most will not.
Win7 is nice but I would point people at Win10.
YMMV
Jeff :)
Not an option with a new OS. The whole idea is for Microsoft to stop clowning around with the Start Menu and adding tiles to what has been, and is still is, (with Windows 7) a "clean UI". No one should have to download a replacement for the standard Start Menu, it's just not how it should be. The OS should be self-sustaining. IMHO
I was not conversing directly to you, the idea is for the public to view my (and others') perspective and by doing so, accumulate factoids and concepts so they too can make an educated decision on what they will choose for their next OS. I have enjoyed the entire journey from W3.0, W95, W98, WM, W2000, WXP, WV and W7.
I personally do not agree on an "all platform" operating system. Granted, tiles make using a PDA much nicer but not for a person who sits in front of a monitor all day to be productive and move like lightening with a keyboard and mouse...and a super efficient GUI without added bells and whistles.
